In 1973, a couple of builders by the names of John Hands and Brian Cairns started building affordable homes for people and families across Hawke’s Bay. They called themselves Waipukurau Construction and by 1978 had built a transportable home for the Central Hawke’s Bay A&P Show.
The home spoke to people about the Kiwi dream, to own a home and have the freedom to live a comfortable lifestyle on your own patch of land. The business took off, transporting homes across the North Island. As the years went by, Waipukurau Construction developed into a fully fledged construction company, taking on larger, more challenging builds. At heart, the company still wanted to give people access to well built homes, so they started a sister company to continue to provide a dedicated service.
